It is not often I am left speechless. Some of you know I was going through a jury selection process a couple of weeks ago. After a few rounds of cuts I was still in the pool. On the final cut, they told us the jury was going to have be sequestered. Turns out, the case is a very..."sensational" first degree murder case. I was able to get out of the service and I am glad. Given some of the work I have done in the past, I have seen some shit but.....damn.
These kids (16 year olds tried as adults) videotaped it all, the plans, interviews with "victims"; not the crime itself, but as they were leaving the crime scene...I have never, EVER seen anything like it. I'm very thankful I was not on this jury.
Yes, the local news aired the tapes, and if you want to see them, message me and I will send you the address, but I have decided not to post them. Certainly out of respect for CS, I know a number of people that are friends of her family...its a smallish town; but also because I may be changing what I think about media and violence. Its unbelievable how many media references are made in the murder video; and their willingness...well, joy at doing murder so that they could "make history". I'm really sad.
